1 hour

As I was sitting on the plane yesterday I was thinking it was funny that every person on the plane was going to the same place, and then almost immediately on landing, we all went on our separate ways.

We were all going to Tenerife, and our destinations were all slightly different. But we all needed a few components in common to get us there, before we split off in our own directions.

It's the same with running.

We are all going along the same path with training, and then splitting off into our own direction when we train specifically for our events.

And we all need some of the same components of training to allow us to get there.

Consistency - this is arguably the most important of them all. There is little benefit to training hard for 1 week and then doing nothing for the next 2 weeks. If you can train consistently, even if this is 3 runs a week for you, there is a huge benefit.

Progressive overload - we need this in our training to get fitter, stronger and faster. If you're not increasing your training load or making the sessions a little harder as your training progresses, then you're not making the most of your time.

Recovery - we need to recover. It's during this that our bodies and muscles repair and let us get the benefit of what we have been doing. If you're out hammering it every single day you're limiting the benefit of all the sessions you're doing.

Of course there is more you can do to maximise your training time, and if you're in a hurry to get there you can get in contact with me via this website and see how we can work towards it.

Here's this week's session;

Tag me on the socials if you can because I'm not at the Run Rhaw park this week to see everyone's efforts.
